MEET COUNCILMAN CHRIS NETTLES
The Nettles’ Family
Pastor Chris Nettles is a lifelong resident of Southeast Fort Worth and believes in devoting his time to his family, business, and community. He and his wife, Shakia Nettles, are the proud parents of four children: Jalen, Christopher Jr. (CJ), Caleb, and the princess, Christianna Nettles.
Since 2014, Chris Nettles has owned and operated his daycare center, Haven of Purpose Childcare Center, which provides care, education, nutritious meals, mentorship, and so much more to the children of working families in Fort Worth. Chris’s business is run alongside of his ministry, where he has served as the senior Pastor and played an active role in the community for the past eleven years.
More recently, in 2019, Pastor Chris expanded his afterschool program to providing after-school care and hot meals for the students of Everman ISD and surrounding churches and apartments complexes. Purpose Driven Ministries’ Afterschool Program now serves hot meals to over 1,800 kids in Southeast Fort Worth every day.
In addition to serving on the Fort Worth City Council, Chris also serves as a member of the Trinity Metro Board where he makes public transportation more equitable and accessible for Fort Worthians.
In his tenure thus far, Councilman Nettles has brought 1,700+ rooftops to District 8 in order to make an area – identified as a food desert – more attractive to potential grocery store developers and partners. Councilman Nettles also gave the green light to the Evans and Rosedale Project – a momentous mixed-use development that will restore life and growth into the Southside of Fort Worth. These accomplishments led the Fort Worth Weekly to name Councilman Chris Nettles as The Best Councilmember of 2021.
